6/21/2001, DRAPER, Ut - Pentalon Construction is the general contractor for the Community Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing being built for the Division of Facilities Construction and Management of the State of Utah. The project is located at 5709 South 1500 West in Taylorsville, Utah. The project was designed by Jack Brady of Burtch W. Beall, structural engineering was provided by Allen and Bailey Engineering, electrical engineering was provided by BNA Consulting, mechanical engineering was provided by Bennion Associates, acoustical engineering was provided by Bush & Gudgell and landscape architecture was provided by Landmark Design.
The 13,500 sq. ft., $1,016,000, project provides an addition to the existing Community Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing building adding new offices, classrooms, restrooms and a new assembly room. Special lighting and acoustics were designed into the building to facilitate access for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The project broke ground on May 7 and is scheduled for completion on December 14, 2001. Floor slabs are currently being poured.
The project manager is Shay Johansen; the project superintendent is Brent Meadows.
